Poems for... supplies small poem-posters for public display - in waiting rooms, class rooms, libraries ...
Here on this site you can find more detail about the project - what poems are available, what they look like, who wrote them, how people have displayed them (see "More About Us").
You can also find out how to obtain the poems in hard copy. They come free of charge (except for postage), are printed on robust, ivory-coloured paper and look good (see "Contact Us").
Or you can download the poems direct from this site (In that case, you will have to register with us. The process is simple and quick and again free of charge. Go to "Registration" on the menu to the left of this text. Thereafter, if you want to download more poems, you would just sign in).
We shall keep updating the site and, as new groups of poems become available, will offer these for downloading as well. At present the print resolution is not good enough to allow for enlargements much above A4 size, but that will soon change.
All the poets whose portraits you can see at the top of these pages have work displayed in the poem collections we've put together, or are just about to. Most are contemporary. Several have been active in helping put the collections together, or have otherwise shown support to this project over the years. These include : David Hart, Fiona Sampson, Debjani Chatterjee, Andrew Motion. The faces appear in random order, and the order keeps changing.
At the bottom of the site pages, you will see the logos of all the bodies who've helped to fund the project at different times.
Poems for... used to be called Poems for the Waiting Room. But since 2004, we have been producing bilingual poems in acknowledgement and celebration of the nation's diversity and this has lengthened the project's reach. The poem-posters remain applicable to healthcare venues and continue to enrich many of them. But they are now going further afield as well - to embassies, schools, libraries...
