More for the Mix - "Poems for...Change-Making"

The poems were produced in a poetry-writing workshop for Occupational Therapists employed by NHS mental health services. The workshop took place during an all-day conference in London at the beginning of December 2009.

Participants were asked to write on one of the following subjects : “Waiting” and “Who do you think you are ?”

The collection provides an insight into the experience of urban mental health work at the turn of the decade.

NOTE : “Occupational therapy is a profession that assists people of all ages to achieve health and life satisfaction through improving the ability to carry out activities that they need or choose to do in their daily life" (COT 2009). It is philosophically rooted in occupation and has always believed that health and wellbeing can be sustained and enhanced through participation and meaningful activity. (College of Occupational Therapists COT/BOAT Briefings (2009) no 23 : Definitions and Core Skills for Occupational Therapy. London)
